The way inflation is calculated is designed to make it seem low so that the government fat cats don't have to face the music when voters go to the polls. Let gas hit $5/gallon and bread hit $5/loaf and you'll see every incumbent thrown out of office...which wouldn't be a bad thing.

Ana,

If you're a tin-foil-hat nutjob, then so am I! I haven't had a hand in raising a garden since I was 5, but I've got a mega-garden planted now! My hubby and I have been talking about the "state of things" lately and we're both agreed that there are some big and NASTY things coming.

All of our discretionary money is going to things like bio-diesel (for his truck), gardening (plants and accessories), and reducing use on everything. We're in FL and are refusing to use our air conditioner because we know that higher electric bills are just not an option for us.

I run a small home-based business and I'm really feeling the pinch. I've called all of my vendors and asked for discounts, or cut out services entirely, just to keep my head above water. Yeah, unemployment is real...and it's not going to get better in a hurry.

“The Province of Georgia in the colonial United States, was originally intended to be settled by debtors.”

That's how my ancestors came over to America actually. Back in London, the patriarch of our family fell in love with a noble woman who returned his feelings. The father found out about it and threw him into debtors prison, shipping him off to Georgia. That's where my family lived up until my Grandpa's generation. Luckily for me the noble woman in this story fled London when she found out what her father did and sailed to America where she eventually found her love. They married and started off with nothing in the new world.

Our gas prices went from 3.69 Tuesday afternoon to 3.92 Tuesday night. :-( Just in time to go out of town this weekend. About your tree, is there a local vocational school or community college with landscaping programs? They might be willing to take it down as part of student training with minimal or no cost to you. Or perhaps you know someone who uses a fireplace or wood stove part of the year who would be willing to take it down in trade for the wood.

I think it would be better if they stopped trying to hide the problem and started trying to fix it. You ignore a leaky roof and the leak gets bigger. Then again, their attempts to stave it off have not been...confidence inspiring.

Dear NCSU95,

There are also Americans with no consumer debt other than their mortgages. I am living proof the MMA works without cashing your monthly cash flow. The program uses stagnant idle money we keep in our checking account each month "just in case." The program helps people accomplish this faster and more efficiently than most people can do on their own. The cost pays for itself in short order and it provides a great return on your investment. People spend much more than the one time $3500 every 3-5 years refinancing in order to save interest. I respectfully invite you to talk a look at the program in greater depth.
